What is the difference between a porterhouse and a T-Bone steak?

The difference between a porterhouse and a T-Bone steak:

To the untrained eye, it can be difficult to tell the difference in a porterhouse and a t-bone steak. Our in-house professionals have let us in on how we can tell the difference. Get the scoop below! 

Both steaks include a New York strip steak on one side of the bone and a tenderloin filet on the other side of the bone. The filet on a porterhouse is generally larger and thicker than that of a T-bone.  Essentially, the porterhouse is a bigger version of the T-Bone. For example, the porterhouse steaks we have in our online store are 28 ounces a piece and the t-bones are 24 ounces per steak. 

If you know your way around a grill, you can cook both a porterhouse and a t-bone steak the same way, the porterhouse will just take a few additional minutes. We have a recipe for a t-bone sous vide here if you’re feeling like trying something new!
