What is a picanha?
It’s a cut of beef taken from the top of the rump. Also, commonly called a rump cover, rump cap, sirloin cap, or even culotte steak. Triangular in shape with a thick layer of fat called a fat cap.
You can cook it as a roast or slice it up into individual picanha steaks. As it is not an overused muscle, this cut is tender and juicy, producing an amazing flavor. All you need is just a bit of seasoning, olive oil, and a few minutes on the grill, dinner will be served. To learn how to make this Natural Picanha Roast, check out Will’s recipe here!
While, it is not common to find this cut of meat in grocery stores since it’s typically broken down into smaller cuts of meat like loin or round steaks for retail, Painted Hills Natural Beef choose to carry USDA Choice Natural Picanha Roast online with each weighing between 2-3lb.
