Ingredients

  • 1Unit(s)Painted Hills Natural Beef Brisket
  • 2Tbsp.coarse sea salt
  • 2Tbsp.Black Pepper
  • 1Tbsp.Garlic
  • 1Tbsp.Onion Powder
  • 1C.Beef Broth
  • 2Tbsp.Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1Tbsp.Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C). Trim any excessively thick areas of the fat cap, leaving about 1/4 inch. In a small bowl, combine all the dry rub ingredients. Generously rub the brisket with the spice mixture, ensuring it's evenly coated on all sides.
  2. Sear (Optional, but Recommended): Heat a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on all sides until browned, about 3-5 minutes per side. This adds depth of flavor.
  3. Place the brisket fat-cap up on the rack in the roasting pan or in the Dutch oven. Pour beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and apple cider vinegar into the bottom of the pan. Cover the roasting pan tightly with aluminum foil or the lid of the dutch oven. Cook for approximately 3-4 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 180°F (82°C).
  4. Remove the brisket from the oven. Carefully wrap the brisket tightly in a double layer of aluminum foil or butcher paper. Return the wrapped brisket to the oven and continue cooking for another 2-3 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 200-205°F (93-96°C). The meat should be very tender when pierced with a fork.
  5. Remove the brisket from the oven and let it rest, still wrapped, for at least 1 hour (or up to 2 hours) before slicing. This is essential for redistributing the juices and ensuring tenderness.
  6. Unwrap the brisket and place it on a cutting board. Slice the brisket against the grain for maximum tenderness. Serve the brisket with the pan juices or your favorite barbecue sauce.
